Welcome to our Saratoga Springs, NY store. Saratoga Olive Oil Co. opened in this vibrant community in April 2011. The brothers and owners; Chad and Clint Braidwood, grew up in the Saratoga region and targeted Saratoga Springs as their flagship store. Chad and Clint grew up in the small town of Niskauyna, NY (about 30 miles south) and spent childhood summers at the Saratoga Race Track. Why Saratoga Springs? Other then the family's personal love for the area, Saratoga Springs boasts an unbelievable culinary atmosphere. The streets are bustling with restaurants and foodie shops up and down Broadway and around the city. People from all over the world commence into Saratoga Springs for the annual summer meet at the historical Saratoga Race Track. The town opens their arms to their visitors and provides them with an outstanding dining experience. We are so proud to be an addition to the incredible culinary tapastry of what is Saratoga Springs.
Let us tell you a little about our company - Saratoga Olive Oil Company is a family business owned and operated by Clint Braidwood, Barbara Braidwood and Chad Braidwood. Our goal is to provide the consumer with the freshest Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the world. At Saratoga Olive Oil Co., we follow the olive crush in the northern and southern hemispheres to provide the consumer with the most recently produced and healthiest oils available anywhere. Our motto is "The best olive oil is the freshest olive oil!".
In addition to the varietal oils, we also offer the opportunity to enjoy naturally flavored olive oils and gourmet oils and aged balsamic vinegar to tantalize your palate. Our white and red balsamic condimento vinegars are imported from Modena, Italy and are produced using the Solera method yielding a rich, smooth product unlike typical balsamics found in your local grocery store. We also offer exotic sea salts for tasting, olive oil based beauty products and local artisan pottery, wood products, local bread and artisan olive boards.
Please come in, meet us and have fun sampling our products. We can help assist you in finding the perfect oils and balsamics for yourself or for that special gift. If you are visiting, our attractive bottles make a great memento from your trip to Saratoga. We are proud to be named "1 of Top 5 stores in the World for Olive Oil Selection" by the Olive Oil Times. Take some time and read more about our shop and the other wonderful products we provide besides our award winning olive oils, aged balsamic vinegars and ancient sea salts.
All construction, cabinets, tables and shelving were produced by Adirondack Lakewood Design. Adirondack Lakewood Design is owned and operated by Michael Falk of Adirondack, NY. Michael and his father Gary Falk constructed the beautiful pine tables and the extraordinary check-out counter from Adirondack pine trees that grew around Saranac Lake. The over 100 year old wood mantles were unearthed from Adirondack lakes and rivers by Michael Falk. These timbers sunk during the mass migration of timber from the high peaks to Glens Falls, NY. Luckily, for us, some of the timbers did not make the full journey and are now on display in our store. You can order these wonderful pieces through his website or have other custom wood furniture made at AdirondackLakewoodDesign.com.
All art in the store is the work of the talented Tom Myott of Glens Falls, NY. Tom has been painting Saratoga Raceway themes and Equine painting for over 10 years. He is graciously showcasing and selling his art at our store. There are fabulous original paintings and exquisite racing giclee works throughout the store. Tom also has a wonderful studio in the acclaimed Glens Falls Shirt factory in Glens Falls, NY. You can visit his website at TMyottArt.com.
The interior of the space was created by owners Clint and Barbara Braidwood. The Braidwood's wanted to create an atmosphere that catered to relaxation and enjoyment that is often lost in a shopping experience. There was a conscious effort to minimize the store to help focus the consumer on the beatiful tastes and gorgeous art work throughout the store. It was the goal of the couple to create an art gallery atmosphere and thus named the store a "tasting gallery". The layout of the store also caters to the 'tasting tour' experience with wide aisles so the customer is free to wander the shop unavaded.
All breads in the store are hand crafted by Rock Hill Bakehouse of Glens Falls, NY. All breads are showcased for sampling and loaves are also for sale. Head Baker and Owner, Matt Funiciello, began working with founders, Michael and Wendy London, back in 1988. Matt is a food activist, always pushing to use a higher percentage of NYS wheat and other regional ingredients each and every year. Handmade, naturally-leavened, hearth breads possess a unique chew and their crust helps retains moisture in the crumb, where it belongs. You can learn more about Rock Hill Bakehouse at their website at RockhillBakehouse.com.
Saratoga Olive Oil Co. is proud to be showcasing pottery by Debbie Davidson of Glens Falls, NY. Her hand painted and hand crafted olive oil and balsamic cruets are masterful. No cruet is the same so one is able to purchase their own unique piece of art. She enjoys continually testing the limits of clay and exploring new ways to use this earthly medium to create useful pieces of joy and beauty. You can learn more about Debbie at PotteryByDebbieD.com and visit her at the acclaimed Glens Falls Shirt Factory to set up a private lesson or view her other beautiful products.
