Baking with Olive Oil: Blood Orange Brownies Recipe

Have you ever considered baking with olive oil?

Packed with antioxidants, olive oil effortlessly sneaks a little nutritional value into your baked goods. Leave butter out of the recipe and feel a bit better about indulging in dessert. Here's a recipe for Blood Orange Brownies made with our Blood Orange Fused Olive Oil. Citrusy and sweet, the brownies pictured below can be prepared with or without walnuts depending on your taste preferences.

Blood Orange Olive Oil Brownies Recipe

1 1/2 cups walnuts (if desired)
9 oz bittersweet chocolate chips
2/3 cup Saratoga Olive Oil Co. Blood Orange Olive Oil
4 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 Tablespoon  finely grated orange zest

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour and baking soda. Melt chocolate chips until smooth. Stir in Blood Orange Olive Oil and let mixture cool slightly. Combine eggs, sugar, and orange zest in a mixing bowl, adding chocolate mixture until smooth. Fold flour mixture and walnuts if desired. Bake in a 9 inch square pan for 25-30 minutes.
